Training consistently is the core ingredient to improving your running and unfortunately it is difficult for many of us to keep our enthusiasm on our own.
Hobbos has a great culture of training in groups and this is something you can take advantage of to really improve.
We have three groups training during the week and all training sessions are free.
Tuesday Mornings from 6.00am (For the Early birds), same session as Tuesday nights. Join a track interval session where you concentrate on learning to improve your pace and stamina. Putting you through sessions such as 5x 800 metres or maybe 10x 400 metres certainly allow you to discover a new side to running. These sessions on the track are proving very popular and with a warm-up exercises, session, and 2 warm-down laps, normally taking around an hour total.

Thursday Morning & Nights – Various Alternative sessions – Thursday nights in the past were our timeball run. Due to popularity of hill and strength work, in 2023 we are trialling hill sessions. Mornings are either at Farnesworth Avenue Footscray, or Newport Lakes , starting at 6:00am. Thursday nighgt sessions are currently on at 100 Steps of Fedration , in Altona and starts at 6:15pm. As our handicap is on the last Saturday of each Month, we have a rest week, and our hill runs are not on during the rest week. Check facebook, if unsure.
Sunday Mornings – There is normally a variety of runs organised and advertised on our facebook page. One group runs regularly at Newport Lakes, starting at lookout point 1. If you arrive late no problem just wait at the lookout and runners will come back passed in a short while. We run multiple laps so you can run any distance you wish with some running up to 15k or further. We also have some members doing trips to the You Yangs and other hilly courses on the occasional Sunday, plus a long slow run along the Williamstown and Altona foreshore. Times, distances, and locations are on the Facebook page, as we like to alternate the experiences, and are not guaranteed to attend each location on a Sunday.
All these runs will dramatically help your running and your wellbeing. The friendship and support you get from training with others of ALL abilities.
